To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate
The 1st & 2nd Choice Initiative
The 1st & 2nd Choice Petition
To: Our fellow Americans, Congress, the Senate and the President
From: We the People
Regarding: The establishment of a 1st and 2nd choice in Presidential Elections.
The Plan & Purpose: In order to make room for a third or fourth party to grow and, possibly, in the future, elect a President, We the People who endorse this petition, do hereby direct our national leaders to do that which is necessary to make it possible for citizens voting in a Presidential election to have a 1st and 2nd choice for President. The voter would make their 1st choice and 2nd choice and, if there 1st choice did not get enough votes to win, then, their 2nd choice would automatically get their vote.
In this way, a voter could choose to support the emergence of a 3rd party that might be more in line with their values, without wasting their vote and having a person elected President who is their least desired candidate.
This new way of electing Our President would break up the two party monopoly and make the two party candidates more receptive to ideas outside the traditional two party system. This new way would create a more dynamic, progressive, way of fulfilling the Constitutional Imperative of – Government of, by and for (all of) the people.

Why is this important?
When I vote for President, a third party candidate might be more in line with my values, but, I realize that if I vote for the candidate of my choosing, the candidate I least want to be the President may win. This initiative would help to break up the two party monopoly.
