To: The Honorable, Eduardo Gonzales, Florida House Representative, District 102

The Honorable Gonzales: Please put ERA, HCR 8001 on the Agenda!

The Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex."

Floridians ask you, to strongly consider and make provision for the nonpartisan ERA proposal, HCR 8001. As you are aware it is not a State Bill, but a formal recommendation that requires the approval from a majority of the Legislators. Since all citizens, male and female are granted equal protection under the law, we ask you to add "equal right"s to our constitution.

Why is this important?

The "Equality" journey from Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, to Anthony's women's suffrage in 1920, to Paul's 1923 authoring of The Equal Rights Amendment, (ERA), to the 92nd Congress, ratification of Representative Griffiths’ 1972 ERA Joint Resolution, and now in 2013, to you, Representative Gonzales. We have talked the "Equality" talk for over 165 years. Let us pay homage to Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Caddy Stanton and Alice Paul's "Equality" dream! Let us come together as Americans living in the greatest democracy, where the will of the people is the basis of the authority of our government. Let us bestow legal equal rights to all citizens, male and female, of the United States of America.

The Fourteenth Amendment, requires each state to provide equal protection under the law to all people. All people (male and female) born or naturalized in the U.S., are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. Women, like men, too are citizens, taxpayers, spouses and deserve liberty, justice and equality!

It is the new millennium, a new era, and adding ERA to the U.S. Constitution would make it clear that America stands for legal equality of all its citizens, female and male.

Now, the time has come, to walk the talk and ratify "The Equal Rights Amendment, ERA, to the U.S. Constitution!

Respectfully, we thank you.
