The Recess Project: Bringing Recess to Dover Middle School

Currently, children at Dover Middle School do not have recess. These are kids as young as 10 years old who are not being given free, unstructured play in fresh air on a daily basis. Students can benefit from the social development & communication that occurs outside of a structured environment, and studies have shown that kids are less attentive and work less efficiently when they are confined to classrooms all day. Our children deserve to have time carved out of their 6 hour school day for recess, just as adults have breaks during their working day.
