The right to know what we eat
If I sprinkled some powder on the president's food, I'd be flat on the floor with three secret agents on my back within a second. And rightly so - nobody should tamper with the president's food. But if Monsanto sprinkles questionable GMOs in my food, I am not even allowed to know about it. The government protects Monsanto's secrecy. This is not right. We should all have the right to know what we eat.
Why is this important?
In other countries people have the right to know what they eat. Here in the US, we are not allowed to know whether our food contains genetically modified organisms. Recently new research has shown that GMOs are not as safe as Monsanto wants us to believe.
