The Truth About the USDA
After watching many highly informative documentaries like "Vegucate" and "Food Matters," I know I will never go back on my decision to become vegan. Health is too important an investment to pass up. I am a graduate student as well, so that means I do not make a lot of money. My concern is the fact that the food industry and the government makes healthy food too expensive at the grocery store. The food that is not good for us, and frankly, killing us slowly, is cheap. If American citizens had the important information on how diet affects our health and the rest of our lives, I'm sure we could make a change in the USDA, forcing them to lower the prices of food that is good for us, and making food that is bad for us more expensive (essentially like cigarettes). I care about this, and I think you should too.
Why is this important?
I have a grandparent with terminal cancer. I know that had he lived his life differently in terms of diet, he could have prevented this disease and perhaps extended his life a little longer. He is still alive, but my family is playing the waiting game.
