Sections 1021, 1022 & 1031-1033 of the 2012 NDAA, plus the 2011 Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act, the possibility of drones in U.S. airspace, and the various attempts to censor the internet (ACTA, CISPA, etc.), not to mention a number of other liberty-discouraging legislations, are slowly but surely turning the U.S. into a surveillance state. The new NDAA language is especially worrisome, as it violates the very idea of rule of law by opening up loopholes that may inspire future administrations to be able to illegally, in terms of the Fifth Amendment, suspend due process. I understand that 9/11 has changed the American consciousness but this quote from Benjamin Franklin seems appropriate, "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
