The US needs to get off of foreign oil NOW!

The US taxpayer has spent over $2.5 billion dollars over the last 50 years on algae research at universities. To date, nothing has been commercialized by any algae researcher. Universities claimed a few years ago that "all algae technology hurdles have been met. It's all engineering and scale-up going forward."

Chu, Sandalow and the Head of the DOE Biomass Program have been educated about this problem for the last 6 years and dropped the ball. Nothing has been done

The REAL question is: Does the DOE BIOMASS PROGRAM really want the US off of foreign oil or do they want to continue funding more grants for algae research to keep algae researchers employed at universities for another 50 years?

In business, you are not given 50 years to research anything. The problem is in the Congressional Mandate that allows the DOE to continue to use taxpayer monies on more algae research, NOT algae production in the US. So far, algae research has not got the US off of foreign oil for the last 50 years!

We need to build commercial algae farms in the US NOW. If not, we will soon be buying our algae fuel from the Middle East and China.

SOLUTION: We need to change the Congressional Mandate from allowing the DOE to take taxpayer money and continue to spend it on more algae research. We need funding for commercial algae farms to do commercial algae production in the US.

Why is this important?

Algae is one solution to help get the US off of foreign oil, become energy independendent and create new jobs.
