The Voting Rights Act Restoration Bill

Representative Sanchez;
The Supreme Court's Shelby County v. Holder decision has allowed North Carolina, Texas, and other states to enact draconian restrictions on voting rights designed to lower turnout among minority, poor and young voters. Please cosponsor and support the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014.

Why is this important?

In its recent Shelby County v. Holder decision the Supreme Court invalidated the key section 4 provisions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act allowing states like North Carolina and Texas to enact draconian restrictions designed to lower turnout among minority, poor and young voters for partisan advantage. This is anathema to the spirit of American democracy.
