The Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014
The Voting Rights Act is an important piece of civil rights legislation that was weakened by the Supreme Court decision last year. There is a bipartisan piece of legislation in Congress to amend the VRA. Rep. McLeod should support this effort by cosponsoring and fighting for a strong bill.
Why is this important?
I am starting this petition on behalf of all citizens, especially minorities, that have been effected the most by the Supreme Court decision last year. I feel that people should not be burdened with obstacles of suppression in order for one party to gain an edge in any election. We the people, live in a Democratic Republic where fairness of the constitution should be realized by all of its citizens.
