There must not be Über-Americans

This is at heart a matter of ethics, and the common legislative blather about "proudly representing the people" rings hollow unless you have the ethical backbone to visualize yourself in their situations.

It is not only a responsibility, but an honor to pay taxes to support a government that protects its citizens' well-being.

Your obligations are to make taxation fair and to equally protect the citizenry. That includes giving them all the same medical benefits you enjoy. Doing that supersedes the rights of corporations and giving your wealthiest backers benefits paid for by depriving the general public.

Why is this important?

Our constitution grants all Americans equal opportunities to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

As a member of Congress, your exceptional rights to medical care and your ability to support tax loopholes crafted primarily to benefit the very wealthy are at odds with the fundamental premises of our democracy.

Congressional representatives who vote against making those benefits equally available to all Americans should disqualify them as true representatives of their constituencies.
