Tie 1/2 of Congressional Compensation to National Satisfaction

We believe that congressional compensation should be divided into two components: 50% guaranteed—based on their election from their districts and states; the other 50% “at risk”--based on the national satisfaction ratings of congressional effectiveness as a team that ought to be working in the national interest.

Until Congress has an approval rating over 50%, they should receive none of the “at risk” compensation. Their compensation would only be increased as their satisfaction ratings increase. And they would only receive all of their “at risk” compensation when their national approval rating exceeded 85%. Satisfaction and graduated compensation would be determined on a yearly basis by an independent management group

Why is this important?

As we have seen only too dramatically over the past several weeks, the actions of members of Congress have an impact not only on the people in the districts and states they represent but on hard-working people throughout the United States. It seems only fair that their compensation should reflect their responsibilities to both groups.
