Time to Legalize Marijuana and Lower the Drinking Age

Tell your local Congressman, Senators, and State Legislators that it is time to legalize marijuana and lower the age, not only to buy marijuana legally (when and where legalized) but also to buy alcohol, apply for a concealed weapons permit, and visit a casino, from 21 to 18. It is time, once and for all, to treat voting age adults like voting age adults, and also based on more recent scientific knowledge to class marijuana with alcoholic beverages rather than with heroin.

Why is this important?

Marijuana is only about as dangerous as alcohol; both can be bad (for different reasons) in excess, but both can also be used safely if one does so occasionally. Also, minors can not vote, and voting age adults should be treated as exactly that: Voting age adults. Not only do voting and military service require if anything more maturity than alcohol, casino gambling, and marijuana, but also, so do all contracts one may sign without parental co-signatures, and likewise applying for rifle permits and completing criminal background checks for volunteer organizations and employment.
