Bruce Springsteen: Please recruit a group of 25 progressive artists to run for Congress in Republican districts in 2018, gaining control of the House for Democrats.
Why is this important?
The country has gone to hell in a hand basket. All three branches of government will now be controlled by the party that does not recognize the corrupting influence of money in politics, that suppresses the right of citizens to vote, and that denies the reality of human induced climate change. We need a correction as soon as possible.
Due to gerrymandered districts, it's impossible for typical progressive candidates, even very good ones, to get a majority in the House. Bruce Springsteen could lead a group of 25 popular entertainers in moving to conservative districts, winning seats there, and creating real hope for democracy reform. This would bring the Republican-led destruction of the country and the planet to a screeching halt.
Hopefully Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Leonardo DiCaprio will join him right away, with many others soon following.
The American people love celebrities. Republican districts in the flyover states could be easily won by the right celebrity, and Bruce's credibility with blue collar America makes him the perfect artist to lead this effort.
