Stop the permit to increase hazardous toxic emissions at Seneca's Biomass Plant
Why is this important?
Seneca's Biomass Plant (repeatedly fined for violations) is now requesting a permit for major pollution level increases, purchasing unused 'pollution credits' from other plants, which will push it from a "minor" to "Major" source of pollutants under the Federal Clean Air Act.
It's pollution controls for nitrogen oxides were "switched off" for seven months, and it seeks to increase hazardous emissions of hydrogen chloride, formaldehyde, acrolein, styrene, and carbon monoxide,' pumping 24/7 - (the latter alone 25,000 tons/week.)
EPA says"'particulates' can aggravate asthma, bronchitis, lung disease, heart disease, and lead to premature death of health-sensitive people, including the very young and very old."
The health of our children and elders should be top priority, and this permit and purchase of "pollution credits" should be stopped. How can the potential for "premature death" of our most vulnerable youth and elderly be either permissable or negotiable? We have only until November 22nd to respond.
