Treat Children at the border as Refugees

We the people, citizens, permanent residents and tax payers, ask our government to see the vast number of Latin American children coming to the US as refugees. We urge you to uphold the legislative process already in place for these children. We call on our government officials to work with government, business, and non-governmental organizations to provide housing, legal representation and due process to these children. At the same time we ask our officials to work with foreign governments in order to figure out a lasting solution to the drug and gang violence plaguing communities in Latin America, which sparked this crisis in the first place.

Why is this important?

Here are the facts plain and simple. There are children in crisis. A family does not without conscience send their child through dangerous miles of unspeakable violence to get to America because they feel like it. We are facing a real opportunity to step up and help our actual neighbors. Literally, our neighbors. Even if you decide not to sign this petition, please send word to your representatives that the disgusting behavior of some at the border through their yelling, policing, etc... is unacceptable and we need to support these child refugees in the same way that we supported families after other crises in our history.
