Truth in Government Mandate

It should be a felony for politicians to lie to the public.
An oath of truth must be taken by all candidates before they appear on a ballot, campaign or in any way communicate with the people of the USA.
The oath applies to all public communications and shall remain in effect for the entirety of the politicians public life.
Lying must bring specific and strong punishments.
First offense may be a fine of several hundred thousand dollars.
Second offense, prison and a ban from all public offices and a ban from working with the governments of the USA and the States. This applies to any and all lobbying, advising and/or oversight of any contracts that involve government contracts.

Why is this important?

Lying in politics must be outlawed and prosecuted.

Politicians routinely lie to the American people. They think nothing of changing their stories regularly as they destroy the foundation of our democracy.

We must demand a zero tolerance law that strongly punishes lying politicians.
