Congress needs to pass a law forbidding lies in political advertising by any candidate for federal office. If all claims about a candidate's opponent are provably wrong, the offending candidate must stop the advertisement and publish a retraction or be prevented from taking office if elected.
Why is this important?
So much political advertising is misleading or outright false. Congress needs to clean up the lies and give us only the truth. The Supreme Court seems to think lying is protected speech, but political advertising must be truthful.
