Truth in Politics

The American people should not be lied to by elected officials, during an election or while serving in an elected position.

Why is this important?

It is illegal for anyone to lie to Congress. We need a law making it illegal for Congress to lie/deceit/perjure or mislead Americans during elections and while serving in the United States Congress. Punishable by sanctions, fines and up to 5-8 years of imprisonment. The law for lying by elected officials can be identical in punishment as the law making it illegal for anyone to lie or mislead Congress.
The penalty for lying to Congress can include fines and or imprisonment.
