Turn Cabrini HS into a public pre-K and K

Mayor de Blasio and Chancellor Fariña:

Mother Cabrini High School is closing at the end of this school year. Let’s have the City turn it into a much-needed pre-K and kindergarten. District 6 is the most crowded district in NYC. Parents compete for a handful of available spots in local pre-Ks. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a space that is already a school and to serve an under-served neighborhood.

Why is this important?

Washington Heights is full of young kids. Parents in District 6 (the most crowded district in New York City) compete for a handful of available spots in local public pre-Ks. Mother Cabrini High School is closing at the end of this school year. We urge the City to acquire this soon-to-be empty school building and convert it into pre-K and kindergarten to serve our under-served neighborhood.
