University of Miami is no Environmental Steward
As a result of the University of Miami's sale of 88 acres of rare rockland habitat, the University should no longer identify as a 'steward of the environment' that is attempting to reduce environmental impact. The sale of this land will result in the development of a Walmart, Chick-Fil-A, LA Fitness and 900 apartments, according to the Miami Herald. The land is currently home to plants, insects, and animals that are found nowhere else.
Why is this important?
The University is no longer a steward to the environment after knowingly selling imperiled rockland to a developer who plans a bigbox/strip mall complex. The signers of this petition ask that the University of Miami remove from its website and marketing any self-identification as a steward of the environment.
