UPDATED: UNM Hospital Employees: Sign the Petition and Comment – We Need a Fair Pay Increase - 2%...
As the New Members of the Board of Regents of University of the New Mexico begin their tenure and act on their first UNMH budget please know that UNM Hospital Employees have not received a decent pay raise for more than eight years – in fact for six of the last ten years we received a “0%” cost of living increase.
As recently as March 28, 2019, UNM instructed managers to budget for a 2% pay raise for UNM Hospital employees.
This is an insult to all who have worked tirelessly for our patients, and an unfair burden to our families.
UNMH will be receiving a huge increase in improved reimbursement rates from the state of New Mexico - $136 million dollars in new money for hospitals recently voted on by the Legislature.
Also, while UNM Hospital is finally reviewing the pay scales that are hopelessly out of date and have caused systemic inequity in the workplace – the anticipated changes to adjust and fix that pay scale structure will need to be funded in the FY 2020 Budget for UNMH - which the Board of Regents decides and appropriates.
We are asking the Regents to:
1.) Recognize that a Fair and Long Overdue Cost of Living Increase is needed to allow our Families to catch up for Ten Years of Working Hard for Less;
2.) Instruct Management to Fix the Pay System; and
3.) Make sure there is Enough Money Appropriated in the FY 2020 Budget to do Both.

Why is this important?
UNM Hospital Employees need to sign this petition NOW.
When we started the petition in April we expected UNM Hospital Leadership to bargain in good faith with employees.
We now know that the Chancellor and CEO of UNMH, along with the Board of Regents and the Hospital Trustees, are trying to hide from us and avoid addressing their failure to provide a Decent and Fair Pay Increase.
Currently, UNM Hospital continues to offer only a 2% salary increase for employees.
We are NOT BACKING DOWN.
Please sign this petition and contact your State Representatives and State Senators and County Commissionsers by using the link below for a hand book with contact information - TELL THE ELECTED OFFICIALS TO DEMAND UNMH PROVIDE A FAIR PAY RAISE.

2% is unfair ... and insulting to employees who have gone for years with no cost of living pay raises or an insufficient pay raise way below what their cost of living has been for most of the past decade.
And the pay structure/scale at UNMH needs a huge re-alignment, which has been known by managers for years.
A study is expected to be completed this year and will need sufficient funds in the FY 2020 budget to implement long overdue increases to employees - ONLY the Board of Regents can make sure that money is in the budget.
