Urge Governor Rauner To Open Emission Sites in Chicago!
Is the Illinois emission program still useful? On November 1, 2016, several vehicle emissions facilities closed in Chicago to reduce costs and streamline operations. Currently, this leaves Chicago residents driving to suburban cities such as Bedford Park and Skokie defeating the purpose of cutting emissions.
Why is this important?
This is absolutely a step backward in reducing the city's air pollution problem. Many concerned citizens wonder if the goal to reduce costs turned into a costlier toll on our environment. Emission testing is designed to protect the environment and not contribute to the problem. The closures of all sites in Chicago defeats the purpose of reducing emission. Illinois' emission program seems to contribute to the carbon emissions that we are trying to prevent by having Chicago residents drive farther to get tests done. Let us join together to urge Governor Rauner to open emission sites in Chicago!
