Urge President Obama to protect Gay Seniors
Ask President Obama to declare his support for Senator Michael Bennet's (D-CO) recently introduced legislation, “The LGBT Elder Americans Act of 2012.”
Senator Bennet’s proposed legislation would provide federal supports to millions of LGBT older people through the Older Americans Act, the country’s largest vehicle for funding and delivering services to older people in the US.
“The LGBT Elder Americans Act” would include LGBT older adults in the category of “vulnerable populations” with greatest economic and social need as a result of a lifetime of discrimination.

Why is this important?
As a Gerontology student, I am deeply troubled by the largely ignored reports of discrimination and abuse that Gay elders have been subjected to in Nursing Homes and Assisted Living facilities.
