Across the nation, innocent people have been exonerated years after their conviction. The death penalty does not prevent murders and can be more expensive than a life sentence without parole, and the execution drugs are scarce. It's time to get Nebraska out of the death business. Please vote to override the gubernatorial veto.
Why is this important?
In a historic and momentous vote, the Nebraska Legislature voted 32-15 on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, to repeal the death penalty, but Gov. Ricketts has vetoed the bill.
Enough senators voted for the bill to override the governor's veto if they all stand together. Let's thank the senators for their vote, and urge them to stand firm for justice, by overriding the veto.
