On May 15, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is releasing a proposal that, if adopted, would allow Internet providers to create a pay-to-play fast lane for some websites and relegate everyone else to the slow lane. This move could be disastrous for anyone who can't afford to pay for access to the fast lane, potentially forcing them offline entirely by driving users from their slow-loading sites.
Why is this important?
An open Internet is important to me because higher costs for fast-lane Internet access will eventually be passed onto consumers.
