The latest leaks from the White House suggest that rather than fire Jeff Sessions as Attorney General the strategy may be to appoint him as head of Homeland Security to replace John Kelly, the new Chief of Staff. This ploy is quite obvious- appease Trump's right wing base by retaining Sessions in the Cabinet; and replace him with a sympathetic nominee who will not be required to recuse himself or herself from the "Russian Collusion" investigation. The obvious objective is to have an AG willing to fire Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller with the end game of terminating the investigation.
Why is this important?
Our Country has been in turmoil since Trump took office. The last thing we need now is a blatant firing of Mueller thwarting the investigation and causing a Constitutional crisis not unlike and possibly worse than the Nixon/Watergate scandal of 1973. The Senate must stand up to Trump and his bullying ways.
