Utility lineman firearm carry act nationwide
I am coming to you and asking for your help to pass bill for the “ Cary of firearms by utility line workers”. During major storm events such as Hurricanes, major ice storms and other natural disasters, we as utility linemen travel from all over the country to assist in power restoration wherever these occurrences happen. We currently are in the process of restoring power in the Houston Texas area and many of us have encountered death threats, having citizens of Houston pulling guns on us, beating on our utility trucks while driving down the road and supposedly a fellow lineman was given a bottle of water that was laced with Fentanyl by a customer. From my knowledge, there was a bill introduced in 2021-2022 to acknowledge utility lineman as first responders during these state of emergency events. What I am asking, is to pass a bill to allow utility lineman without any criminal record or one that possesses a valid concealed carry permit/concealed weapons permit in there/any state to legally and lawfully carry a firearm as a first responder in any U.S. territory while performing there duties. My reasoning for asking for this bill to be passed is because we are faced with danger from threats of violence on a regular basis from frustrated customers while trying to help them in there time of need. We as lineman possess Commercial drivers licenses and per some states DOT laws, firearms in a commercial vehicle/ utility truck is prohibited by law. I am asking for this bill to be sent through and with your help hopefully passed into law so that we as utility lineman are able to protect not only ourselves, but our coworkers/ brothers in this trade from harm and be able to perform our duties and return home to our families and loved ones safe and unharmed. Please, I’m asking you to consider this.

Why is this important?
It is important for the safety and wellbeing of our brothers in line work that put there lives on the line every time they get a call out in the middle of the night or are responding to storm calls wherever. We should have the right to carry and protect ourselves and our brothers!
