The State of Missouri shall fully fund the Missouri Arts Council using taxes that were specifically dedicated for that purpose and shall not divert any of that tax revenue for other purposes.
Why is this important?
For years, the legislature has not lived up to its promise to use taxes which were supposed to be dedicated to the arts and the Missouri Arts Council (MAC). Much of this revenue has gone into general operations of the state leaving MAC with too little funds. And the arts not only improve the quality of life in Missouri, but also bring hundreds of millions of dollars to the state, which translates into jobs.
