Veteran Affair Unfair Education Benefits
The Department of Veteran Affairs is interpreting the laws to deny education benefits toMilitary Service Members who qualify. Service Members who get Dishonorable discharged or who get incarcerated (AWOL) are allowed to keep those education benefits. While current serving personnel are denied benefits.
Why is this important?
I am a veteran who has been denied my education benefits. I have been in the military since 2004 and have served overseas. The Veterans Administration has denied me my hard worked education benefits due to their interpretation of the law. Even the representatives at the Veterans Administration have stated that my individual case is unfair and does not make sense, that i am being wrongfully denied. The Department of the Army, Human Resource Command has also stated that they feel like "i am being punished" because of a wrongful interpretation of the law.
I am fighting to correct this unfair interpretation of the law. I have worked and fought for this country, under the impression that I would have benefits that are earned through serving the United States. I have put my education on hold to go overseas and fight. I know I am not the only Soldier that has been screwed out of education benefits. When they changed the education benefits back in 2009 and added the Post 9/11 any service member that used chapter 30 and continued to serve after that was denied or given a lower amount of months to use chapter 33 benefits which is the Post 9/11. The Veterans Administration purposely does not inform the Service Member what the best option is for using education benefits. Many Service Members have lost money and time for their schooling because the VA does not assist the member. they try to keep as much money as possible. The VA is not our friend. They do not care.
I am asking for help in making this unfair action address and corrected. Military Service Members should have their education benefits corrected. We put our life on the line 24/7, to serve and protect this wonderful country. Please help me get all of our education benefits back.
