Virginia Recognition of the Wolf Creek Cherokee Tribe

Currently, Virginia does not recognize the Wolf Creek Cherokee tribe. We are urging the VA General Assembly to finalize a vote for recognition of the tribe as part of the first peoples of Virginia.

Why is this important?

As a fellow Native American Indian, I understand the struggles to be recognized in a world that refers to you as past tense, history. The Wolf Creek Cherokee tribe in Henrico County outside of Richmond, VA, continue a legacy of culture and heritage that was nearly wiped from this land and they deserve to be recognized for their continual efforts to restore and maintain their cultural heritage.
