As the secret counting of votes have no place in American democracy and, as we have seen with the use and persistent failures of both computer optically-scanned ballots as well as 100% unverifiable touch-screen (DRE) voting , we call for a federal standard for the public hand-counting of hand-marked paper ballots at the precincts on election night after the close of polls, with all parties watching, all video cameras rolling, and results posted publicly at the precinct before ballots are ever moved anywhere. True, transparent, citizen-overseeable self-governance demands nothing less.
