A ban on single-use plastic bags will decrease plastic litter in Waco,
decrease plastic pollution in our massively polluted oceans, save the lives of thousands of birds and marine mammals who ingest plastic, decrease use of fossil fuels, and combat climate change. In addition, reusable shopping bags are more convenient for consumers.
Why is this important?
To encourage the Waco City Council to pass an ordinance banning single use plastic bags. Bans or fees have been instituted in 31 countries and over 100 U.S. cities. Studies have found such policies effective in reducing local plastic litter.
