WE NEED JOBS NOW

“We the undersigned, all citizens of the United States, and voting members of the Democratic Party, hereby petition President Barack Obama to use his executive powers to enforce the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, under the Homeland Security Act of 2002 and revised in 2009. The plan states that it was enacted to "Build a safer, more secure, and more resilient America by preventing, deterring, neutralizing, or mitigating the effects of deliberate efforts by terrorists to destroy, incapacitate, or exploit elements of our Nation’s critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR) and to strengthen national preparedness, timely response, and rapid recovery of CIKR in the event of an attack, natural disaster, or other emergency." Michael Chertoff, former US Secretary of Homeland Security prefaces the plan with these words "Risk in the 21st century results from a complex mix of manmade and naturally occurring threats and hazards, including terrorist attacks, accidents, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Within this context, our critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR) may be directly exposed to the event themselves or indirectly exposed as a result of the dependencies and interdependencies among CIKR."
We suggest that our failing infrastructure is a matter of national security according to the NIPP under the Homeland Security Act, and must be repaired without delay.”
