WEALTHY AMERICANS TAXES
We, the American People, are sick and tired of the word games used by those we elect to office believing that you are going to make decisions that are in our best interest. Yet far too many of you have signed the Norquist pledge and are making decisions based upon the directives of those who have paid to put you in office and now control your vote. Some of you while not having signed the Norquist pledge cast your votes based on your highest contributors directives. Attention, people, none of your special interest contributors have more votes than we do, and the game playing amongst you elected officials has reached such a ridiculous level that it is obvious not only to us American citizens, yet also to people across the globe.
We middle- and poor-working class constituents have paid our fair share for our entire lives. Without our tax base, there is no United States of America: there is no group of wealthiest Americans either. We have created the life that the wealthy and their families enjoy. It is time for each to pay a fair share of the tax burden, including income from cherished deferred tax mechanisms. All of them.
Had the group of wealthy Americans paid its fair share, our country would be in a better financial position today.
We demand:
- elimination of the Bush tax cuts
- institution of a minimum tax rate of 30% for taxable incomes between $1M and $10M, with a 35% minimum tax rate for taxable incomes over $10M
- return to the 35% tax rate for carried interest
- return to the tax on capital gains to 28%
- elimination of the special treatment of dividends
- a cap on deductions for those who have taxable incomes over $250,000 at $25,000
STOP whining about harm that would befall small business job growth--it’s a lie. STOP supporting lobbyists and lawyers who perpetuate this lie. STOP holding up genuine discussion about paying the fair share of taxes.
STOP trying to change the topic to damaging programs for which we middle- and poor-working class have paid our entire lives. We are not the problem, never have been the problem--you are the obstructionist group.
If you continue to drag budget talks through the pending holiday season, the US stands to suffer damage that is unfounded and will ensue solely because of your selfishness. Vote the increased taxes for the wealthiest Americans through today!
If your shenanigans continue, we will peacefully gather on the streets in each of your districts. Yes, even those of you who believe that you can double-talk us into blaming someone other than you: that tactic won’t work anymore. We will peacefully visit your offices (a democratic right), we will peacefully attend your meetings (a democratic right), we will peacefully welcome you home from DC and ask for you to resign from your office immediately because we elected you to protect us, not to protect your own financial interests!
I suppose that we should thank you: your childish behavior has awakened the sleeping giant that is the American People…

Why is this important?
Wealthy Americans have not been paying their fair share of taxes here in the US: taxes upon wealthy Americans must be increased before the end of December, 2012!
