The United States has a history of brutal intervention in Central America dating back to the early 19th century. Many governments in the region fail to provide basic services and safety to their citizens. As a result, thousands become migrants searching for security and work. American media has a responsibility to report on the historic role of the U.S. in creating this humanitarian disaster.
Why is this important?
We will never develop solutions to this deepening crisis until we understand WHY so many find their countries unlivable. We call on the media to do their jobs and give context. Even starting in the 1980s will tell Americans much more than we know now.
