$15-million is earmarked in the defense budget to for "States or consortia of States to operate offices for...recruiting...the armed forces for participation...as elementary school teachers, secondary school teachers, and career or technical teachers" for poverty area schools. Soldiers transitioning to become teachers are eligible for a $10k bonus. This is great! But the $15-million should be the purview of the Dept. of Education.
Why is this important?
Why is there a 15-million-dollar focus at the Department of Defense
to educate children of the poor in 2013? (As part of NDAA, HR4310)
