Thorium is a non-proliferative low-waste fuel for existing and future civil power reactors. There is absolutely no danger of nuclear accidents with Thorium, and it is estimated that in the U.S. there is an 800-year supply of it at today's power usage. This was tested extensively at Oak Ridge Lab between 1955 and l965, but research was stopped when the government decided to pursue the Breeder Reactor technology because it produced weapons grade Plutonium for making weapons for war.
Read up on it for yourself, sign the petition, starting talking to everyone you know/meet, and call and write your legislators.
This is the "silver bullet" about which everyone is lamenting, but they are not talking about it. Ask them why.
Why is this important?
Everyong needs to read up on Thorium as the "silver bullet" we've been looking for to solve our energy/pollution problems. There is some political reason that it is NEVER mentioned. Most people have never heard of it. It is a by-product of coal and using it instead of burning coal is non-polluting and produces much more energy than burning coal does. WHY AREN'T THEY TALKING ABOUT IT????? WHY AREN'T WE DOING THE WORK TO GET GOING IN THIS DIRECTION?????
