There is a carbon-free base load replacement for the fossil fuels we are now using all over the world and destroying the earth's atmosphere. It was developed by the DOD in the '70's. It could not be a weapon, so it was shelved, and it has been endorsed by the scientific community for 37 years as 'the way to go' for carbon free energy generation ....
This is the 'Apollo Project of this Century' - our legacy to the world!
The solution is RF Accelerator Driven Heavy Ion Fusion (HIF), not lasers, nor magnetic confinement (ITER). HIF works (we know how to make hydrogen bombs!) and it has a projected 80 to 100 EI:ER. HIF can make 100 GW thermal or 35 GWe, 500,000 barrels of carbon neutral synthetic liquid fuel or 3000 acre feet of water in a day.
Let's move on RFAD Heavy Ion Fusion, before it is too late. We need to build a pilot plant ASAP. Like the Manhattan Project ... HIF can be patterned after what was done with the atomic bomb becoming fission energy generation plants.
