YMCA AngelEye Privacy Petition
We want the YMCA to remove AngelEye AI monitoring systems from the pool and stop recording us and our children, at the very least until it is determined that members want this technology to be used!
AngelEye is an AI monitoring system. It is advertised as an aquatic safety tool to assist lifeguards. The YMCA did not adequately inform its members about the system prior to installation. Even now, most members are unaware of it's existence. Some members found out ahead of the installation, and despite major concerns being raised the YMCA installed this system anyway. The YMCA has largely ignored questions and requests to halt usage of this technology.

Member Questions/Concerns About AngelEye:
- Where is video/data from AngelEye being stored?
- Who has access to video/data from AngelEye (including Angel/Eye employees)?
- Is the video/data from AngelEye being used to train AI?
- Is the video/data from AngelEye being sold to other third-party vendors?
- Is the video/data from AngelEye being used to track member behaviors, locations, and/or other data points?
- Is the video/data from AngelEye being used in conjecture with Flock and/or similar technologies?
- What assurances do YMCA members have that their likeness will not be used to generate CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) and/or other exploitive materials?
- How much does AngelEye cost?
- Do you have background checks on every person with access to AngelEye?
- Was a survey done to assess member interest in AngelEye usage?
- What percentage of members want AngelEye to be used?
- If the YMCA is proud of this technology, why didn't they adequately notify members?
- Would this reduce lifeguard urgency and sense of responsibility?
- Would this create a division of responsibility between the YMCA and AngelEye?
- Can YMCA members opt-out of being monitored/filmed?
Why is this important?
We want to protect our privacy and the privacy of our children. YMCA members did NOT sign off on this and can't opt-out. Join the fight for your privacy!!!
