To: Koch Brothers and other election buyers

You Can't Buy My Vote

Signing this petition means that you pledge not to watch corporate-funded political attack ads, refuse to be influenced by them, and will turn your TV/laptop/mobile off or to something else when these ads appear. If the big spenders find that they are wasting their money, they'll stop trying to buy elections.

Why is this important?

Update: This petition has passed the 50-vote threshold, and SignOn has contacted me about helping to publicize it.

It has gotten this far because of you folks, and I thank you deeply. You are pioneers, and if this does what I hope, I will acknowledge and credit you, if you want.

The flood of corporate spending on election campaigns threatens to drown American democracy. The terrible Citizens United Supreme Court decision, recently upheld, is turning elections into auctions, but what if enough people pledged not to watch the corporate-funded advertising? The big spenders would be wasting their money!

Broadcasters monitor how many viewers watch these ads. If they find the people are deliberately turning them off, and report this to the ad buyers, it will discourage attempts to buy elections.

The results of this petition will be sent to the Koch Brothers, ALEC, Karl Rove, and others.

I do not want to live in an America dominated by a new corporate feudalism, with a struggling 99% and an uber-rich 1%. I am hoping that MoveOn picks up this campaign.
