Why is this important?
In Juliana v. U.S., a group of youths, ages 11-22, filed suit against the US government for its affirmative actions that cause climate change, which have violated the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property, as well as failed to protect essential public trust resources. The fossil fuel industry and the Trump administration have requested multiple times that the case be dismissed, but all of these attempts have been rejected by the courts.
