this has effected many of the AP students, further pushing the weight of stress of the AP classes, Bringing the Stream back would help many of our students, it would also be really funny.

  • Protect Trans Students in Virginia!
The GOP will stop at nothing to actively terrorize marginalized communities like the queer community and queer students. It is no mystery that the GOP will continue these vitriolic and baseless attacks against our most vulnerable communities; they have proven this to us throughout their history and they are still openly committed to that legacy. We are currently seeing the direct results of what can happen with low voter turnout. The GOP will not govern effectively, they will prioritize violent roll backs of any progress that we have made thus far to protect marginalized communities and they will build their platforms around doing so. If this makes you angry, turn your anger to action. A few districts have already spoken out against the ruling, but we need more. We need widespread outrage at this new proposed legislation to prevent it from going through. We need to take our anger, our fear, our passion and our love for one another and show the GOP that Virginia is for lovers, and beyond Virginia, our community will not be intimidated, oppressed or legislated out of the society we all live in. In a Youngkin state, we have to fight for one another because he has made it clear that he will not fight for the rights of all Virginians– only those that he and his party deem deserving of basic liberties and fundamental human rights. There is a 30 day comment period for public comments on this pivotal issue that begins on September 26 and ends on October 26. You don’t need to be from Virginia to speak out and support trans lives. You can submit public comments here: https://townhall.virginia.gov/L/Comments.cfm?GdocForumID=1953

  • Muir Michigan Speed Limit Reduction for Elementary School
People should join this petition to ensure the children are able to safely cross the road. I would also like to see a crossing guard in place. Parents of the community are concerned, and action taken previously by other community members to reduce the speed limit have not been honored; in fact; MDOT elected to increase the speed limit. Accidents have resulted from this decision. Truck drivers and other drivers have also voiced concerns as they do not feel safe turning into driveways, onto side roads where there are no stop signs/stop lights, and into businesses.

  • Counselors Not Cops: In Salem Keizer Public Schools
Police in schools have served as the main bridge for students of color, poor students, students with disabilities and trans and queer students to enter the criminal justice system. Our goal is to create a path where our public schools become a place where students are nurtured and provided with the resources that help us grow to be healthy adults. We want to end the long history of systematically criminalizing Black, Indigenous and other students of color, specially those living with behavioral and physical disabilities as well as trans and queer students that attend Salem Keizer Public Schools. Even though in 2021, Superintendent Christy Perry decided NOT to renew the School Resource Officers program, which took about 1 million dollars from our education funding, far right groups who do not represent students are attacking this student-led victory. We need the full and permanent reinvestment of SRO funds into non-punitive education programing/staff and we want our school district to make a commitment to end the school to prison and deportation pipeline.

  • End Homelessness & Poverty while Rebuilding the Economy
This issue is affecting everyone from tourist to communities to families to business owners and overall the economy. This problem has given me the opportunity to understand how to handle the issue effectively and efficiently everyone has voice and nothing will change if no one isn’t listening on how to create solutions that will not mask the problem but remove it. I've heard and seen the frustration and this has allowed me to be able to understand how to make the correct choices for the homeless community and the business owners we are all crying out for something to be done this is a change for good it will allow us to get back what Covid-19 has taken away from our communities and rebuild our economy.

  • Implement a "No Shame Dress Code" at STHS
The current dress code perpetuates sexism, mental illness and an environment that does not support the learning of all students. The dress code sexualizes and objectifies the female student body and is demeaning to the male student body. Without change, this will continue to negatively impact our current and future student body.

  • Thank you, President Biden... Now, cancel all student debt!
We applaud President Biden's historic student debt cancellation plan, but we recognize that millions of people will still be burdened by debt. That is why we urge the President to cancel all student debt to ensure borrowers have the financial freedom to invest in their futures, support their families, benefit their communities, and contribute to the economy. President Biden must take the next step and cancel student debt for all. Research shows that debt cancellation is progressive. That means the more that is canceled, the more benefits reach people who need help. On top of that, canceling more debt will further advance efforts to address racial and gender equity issues.

  • Menstruation & Adverse Educational Impacts in Nigeria
Tangible challenges such as inadequate materials, lack of access to sanitation products and inadequate facilities, coupled with psychological challenges such as the lack of menarche education, fear and cultural stigmatization put secondary school girls and menstruating youth in Nigeria at a disproportionate risk for adverse educational impacts and other negative outcomes.

  • Thirsty for a water fountain?
Water is a basic human right. At a school that demands academic excellence, it is hypocritical that no water is provided for paying students. Dehydration negatively impacts academic performance and focus. How can we perform if we are not given the basic tools in order to do so. We are also in school for the HOT summer months with no AC in the classrooms as well. Water is something that should AT LEAST be provided considering the tuition we pay to attend this institution.

  • Aquifers Act
People should join this campaign for change because it presents a paradigm shift, environmentally, for the United States. Currently, our society channels water from every rainfall to be drained away. This causes dehydration of the land withheld water. Every hard surface produces rainwater run-off. These are places where rainfall could previously sink into the ground. We cannot remove every hard surface, like roofs and roads, so we must invest in managing that run-off more naturally to allow more water to soak into the aquifers. One more time, too often too much fresh water or storm water is directed into rivers and waterways before it can soak into the ground. Many of us have seen the pipes that discharge at incredible rates, and still don't seem to be enough to capture our ever-growing hard surface footprint. These pipes must be discharged before the natural environment and given spaces within the cities, towns, and farms to seep into the soils of the landscape. Every town and region will be different based upon rainfall and geologic boundaries. Securing fresh water resources for our environments will then increase the availability of fresh water for human use. Remember the power of the beaver, that is who and what we must encourage and replicate now.

  • ENOUGH! STOP THE KILLING, NOW!
Animals matter! New Yorkers care about animals! Thousands of wonderful companion animals suffer in our NYC ACC animal shelters. They are frightened, confined in cages, becoming stressed, falling ill and are unjustly condemned to death. There is little concern for the shelter’s responsibility and for the animals’ right to a safe and loving home. We must demand accountability and change! We must challenge the status quo and demand reform of the failed and dysfunctional NYC ACC. Killing is not the solution! “What is an animal “shelter” that does not protect, care for its own, nor show them respect. What is a “shelter” that treats those that live there as if they had no rights at all. There are many names for a place like this, but a “shelter” it should never be called!” Karen Lyons Kalmenson Below are several typical descriptions, comments and narratives, among many thousands, of animals killed at NYC ACC: June 26, 2022 - Guinness was killed! “June 25, 2022: ‘Happy ray of sunshine’, Guinness #139794, just 2 years old with the 2ND BEST behavior score. Found tied up and abandoned in a park.” May 22, 2022 - Luna was killed “24 months old. She was highly social, seeking attention, wiggly, and excited to greet everyone at the shelter, which is a testament to her personality. Luna loved people she didn't even know.” July 2, 2022 - Rambo was killed “Jun 30 2022- ORDER TO KILL Rambo #146031’s owner was unable to find him a new family, so now he dies in @NYC ACC anytime…a smart 2yo puppy willing to learn. A target to die, HELP!” And Rambo was killed even though at least 2 offers of homes were received. Twitter reactions: * “Still a puppy. What is wrong with @GovKathyHochul @NYCMayor Why won't they stop this?? RIP sweet baby, you deserved better.” * “Can nothing be done? It's a total disgrace and shame on New York. What about their reputation - It's becoming known throughout the country! Uncaring killers!” * “This breaks my heart. 2 years old. RIP Rambo. You didn’t have a chance at that place.” New Yorkers are fed up with the lack of concern demonstrated by elected officials and their appointees. We care about animals and WE VOTE! Please join us as caring New Yorkers in urging Mayor Adams and the NYC Council to TAKE ACTION NOW!
