A Place for the Homeless to Go.
We nend a way for the homeless to have a safe place for isolation. Maybe a safe place to set up tents even, in this time of uncertainty. The homeless population doesn't have the luxury of isolating in a home like most do so they are at risk of getting sick and making more people sick because they don't have a place to stay clear from others. Isn't there a way to allow them a temporary amount of time to camp in South Beach campground while it's closed to tourists? Open up a big enough section to allow the homeless to set up tents, with obvious social distancing, set clear rules about keeping it clean, and maybe have them do chores while they are staying in the campground as a sort of payment. Having those who can do physical work help keep it cleaned. Have them clean the bathrooms, keep the trash picked up to help limit any extra costs. Having them do these small chores can help them feel like they're giving back. If there are rules and people to help enforce them i feel like this could be a safe opportunity to show love and care for those who are most vulnerable. I would definitely be interested in being very involved to get this going. Please sign this petition so we can help. They have no where to go. I know our community is very loving and tries to help. The amount of hospitality I've experienced in the just over a year I've been here has blown me away. I know there are several who see the same problems that I see and we can find a solution.
Why is this important?
When I moved here, I was blown away by the love and help my son and I received. We were lucky enough to be able to camp for the 6 months we were homeless and we had so much help from the community. I see the need for a safe place for the homeless to go and want to give back and find a way to help.
