Assemblymember Gorell: Thanks for Voting for Disclosure when most Republicans didn't

Voters deserve to know who is behind political ads. So thank you for voting Yes on S.B. 27, the bill that makes non-profits reveal their donors trying to influence California elections. Please also vote Yes on S.B. 2, the Sunshine in Campaigns Act, and S.B. 52, the California DISCLOSE Act!

Why is this important?

Since the disastrous Citizens United ruling, billionaires and other special interests are funneling record amounts of money through secretive non-profits, trying to buy our elections. Federal prosecutors even say that a foreign tycoon exploited loopholes to try to rig the outcome. This kind of dangerous secrecy must stop.

A first step is passing S.B. 27, the bill that will make sure billionaires, foreign tycoons, and other special interests can't hide behind dark money non-profits. The Assembly just passed S.B. 27 and its on its way to the Senate for its final vote to put it on the Governor's desk.

Assemblymember Gorell deserves praise for voting for S.B. 27 despite the fact that most Republicans voted against it. He needs to hear that constituents are watching and also asking that he vote Yes on two other crucial disclosure bills: the Sunshine in Campaigns Act and California DISCLOSE Act.
