To: Governors of the 49 states that still allow the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in pet stores

Ban Pet Sales in the Remaining 49 States

California has banned the sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits at pet stores unless they come from animal shelters or rescue groups. It's time for the rest of the states to fall in line, and adopt this common sense practice.

Why is this important?

Banning retail pet sales will save the lives of countless animals.

Adopting a rescued animal saves a life. When you purchase an animal, you support the pet breeding industry, which includes puppy mills, cat breeding operations, and industrial rabbit farms.

Every year countless animals are purchased on a whim, and end up at municipal shelters and rescues. These situations are preventable, simply by assuring that an adoption process is in place, and animals that are available are rescued, not bred.

How it will be delivered

1. First, sign this petition and share it on all your social networks.
2. Then, write a letter to your STATE representatives, and your Governor. Go to this site and write a letter to your state reps. https://resist.bot/

Please ban the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in our state. There is no need to sell pets while countless shelter animals die. You could save countless lives just by making this one change.

I'm a constituent and I vote. Please make this important change now.
