Create a Pathway to Citizenship for DACA Recipients and Enact Immigration Amnesty
Today, I ask for you to encourage our administration to take bold and humane action to create a clear and achievable pathway to citizenship for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients, commonly known as Dreamers. These young people, brought to this country as children, have grown up here, gone to school here, worked here, and, in every meaningful way, are Americans.
However, their futures remain uncertain due to the lack of permanent legal status. Many live in constant fear of deportation and are unable to fully contribute to the country they call home. I urge you to advocate for and implement a permanent legislative solution that grants Dreamers a path to citizenship—not just protection from removal, but full participation in the civic life of our nation.
Additionally, I respectfully request that your administration resume the processing of new DACA applications. Thousands of eligible young people have been left in limbo, unable to apply for protection due to administrative or legal roadblocks. Restoring this essential program will allow more individuals to come out of the shadows and contribute openly to society.
Finally, I appeal to your sense of history and justice to consider granting a broader amnesty for undocumented immigrants, similar to what President Ronald Reagan enacted in 1986. That bipartisan effort gave nearly three million people the opportunity to regularize their status, strengthening families, communities, and the economy. Today, we need a similarly courageous and humane policy that recognizes the dignity and contributions of the millions of undocumented immigrants who call America home.
This is not just a political issue—it is a moral one. Dreamers and other undocumented individuals are nurses, teachers, entrepreneurs, and service members. They deserve a chance to live without fear and to pursue the American Dream that has inspired generations.
Thank you for your time, and for considering these urgent matters. I sincerely hope you will act to bring justice and stability to the lives of millions who are American in every way but on paper.
