Dear Members of Congress: Oppose Dangerous Carbon Capture Subsidies

We, the undersigned, support a repeal of the federal 45Q tax credit, a massive waste of what could be hundreds of billions in taxpayer dollars that benefits private corporations and billionaires while putting communities across the country at risk from dangerous carbon capture infrastructure.
Despite receiving billions in public subsidies, carbon capture remains an expensive and dangerous industry. CO2 pipelines and storage sites pose serious safety hazards, with leaks and ruptures threatening public health, local economies, and emergency response systems.
We must repeal the 45Q tax credit and stop wasting public money on a dangerous and ineffective industry.

The carbon capture industry is a dangerous boondoggle and taxpayers are footing the bill. The federal 45Q tax credit for carbon capture is handing billions of dollars to this dangerous industry, while putting communities at serious risk of harm.
From dangerous pipeline ruptures to groundwater threats and eminent domain abuse, carbon capture is a threat to communities across the country. Investigations show the 45Q tax credits are riddled with fraud, with potential for companies to claim tax credits for carbon storage that never happened. Industry goals for carbon capture development would result in over $800 billion in tax credits for this dangerous industry, with little to no accountability.
