Dominic's Shoe Repair Should Remain!

Dominic (84) is the owner of one of a few shoe repair shops left in the area. A tiny shop that is a blast from the past. A shop that has been the same for almost 40 years! He has been in business since 1970. But he has been a beacon tucked away in the center of the Bensalem Shopping Plaza on Street Road since 1985.

Mr. Mormando has always been fair and honest. Even to today, in this economic climate, he marks up his resale items only a buck or two! He is not there to get rich, he's there to work and serve the needs of his community.

In his little shop he diligently cobbles away at ladies heels, men's work boots, handbags and more. He does keys the old school way and all the while you get a great conversation with a man who serves our nation and continues to serve his community. The news has been to visit him a few times to highlight this great gentleman.

We come to now. Dominic is being forced out by the owners to seemingly make way for a new business merging with his little shop, forcing Dominic out and into retirement before he's ready. Dominic has always paid his rent in time, delt with break-ins, damage, pandemics and more and still remains, untouched by time, toiling away at work so we can keep our feet comfortable and good looking.

I am asking that we try to send a message that the community NEEDS Dom to remain in place. To remind the owner of the shopping center that Dominic is beloved in the Bensalem Area. NEEDED in the area. We want to ask Mr. Pearlstein at Empire Realty to please allow Dominic to stay.
He's getting up there in age and won't be doing this much longer, but let HIM decide to retire. We want to ask Mr. Pearlstein to please give Mr. Mormando the dignity to leave when he is ready.

Please stand behind this petition to get the word to Mr. Pearlstein before November 30th.

Why is this important?

This is a great insight to Dominic. There are others out there. He is a staple and he is such a kind hearted man. Dominic served our nation and serves the community now with a service long gone. In a day and age where everything is disposable, Dom gives us the option to not have to buy a new $250 pair of boots, or handbags or heels. He can get them back in shape for much much less.

Even beyond anything else, my biggest pitch is this; he has been there 40 years. Everyone around there who has been a Bensalem resident knows him or of him. He's beloved. He's hardworking and he's not ready to retire.

So we beg you to get behind this petition to try to help keep him in business. Thank you
