Drop the charges against David Huerta!

Union leader David Huerta was arrested for participating in peaceful protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids happening in California. Despite video footage of David peacefully protesting when he was aggressively pushed to the ground by law enforcement, he has been unjustly charged with conspiracy to impede an officer. The criminal charge has a maximum sentence of up to six years in federal prison.

Urge Attorney General Pam Bondi and U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli drop the unjust charges against David Huerta.

Why is this important?

Service Employees International Union (SEIU) of California President David Huerta was assaulted, injured, and detained while advocating for immigrant workers. He was hospitalized for a head injury sustained during his arrest, but the federal government has charged him with with conspiracy to impede an officer.

David, a husband and father of two, is also a well-known and beloved community member. From organizing with Justice for Janitors to his decades of work with SEIU, Huerta has been a champion for workers in Los Angeles. In 2014, he was awarded the National Champion of Change from then-President Barack Obama for his advocacy and commitment to fighting for immigrant neighbors.

And now, the Trump administration threatens to imprison him.

The Trump administration is trying to silence civil unrest and using workers like David to intimidate everyday people from exercising their fundamental rights. Add your name to show your solidarity with David and the immigrant workers across the country that he was defending.
