End Mountain Ridge's Discriminatory Dress Code Policy

As a female student at Mountain Ridge High School in the metro Phoenix area, I believe the time has come for the School Board to correct the sexist dress code policy that is not only discriminatory, inconsistent, but also places the responsibility on young women to pay the consequences of men or boys who cannot control their behavior or thoughts. Period!
The Mission of Mountain Ridge High School says that the school "prepares graduates to meet the rigors and demands of 21st-century global citizens." That coupled with the motto of "Respect Yourself, Respect Others, Respect the Ridge," I along with MANY of my friends and fellows students believe that this policy isn't doing that. We have a problem with three things as stated above, that the policy is sexist, inconsistent, and doesn't prepare students for the future as responsible global citizens.
1. Discriminatory/Sexist
2. Inconsistent
3. Woman/Men and Society
The part that is Problematic:
"Clothing must cover the entire buttocks and not be see-through. Shirts and tops may not expose bare midriffs, bare shoulders, nor be deeply or narrowly cut in the front, back, or under the arms. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, and strapless tops are not acceptable. Clothing that exposes undergarments will not be tolerated for males or females."

Why is this important?
This is an important campaign because the inequality towards young women has finally reached a point where we, as the future of this country, want to live in a world where what we wear is not defined by what a man says is appropriate. While an educational environment is a place to learn, young women should not have to carry the burden of young boys or men's thoughts or actions.
